Miss, you can't bring that on the plane... (11°33'N / 104°55'E)
So remember my post about the electronic fly swatter? Well my friend Fren Frown was waiting for her flight on Asiana Airlines, watching a video about items not allowed in your baggage. What's contraband besides grenades and hairspray with lighters? My electric flyswatter! Awesome. Thanks, Fren.
Another thing I bought while on pain meds...

See - this is what I mean. Frannie sends me photos like these so of course I have to retaliate with my own food photos. it's really a love/hate relationship we have. LOL
For Frannie, 63118
I like to torture Frannie with food photos. This is my bibimbap lunch from Bread and Butter in USQ, 10003. It's not bad. I'm not sure I would get it again. But it photographs well. And that's all that counts.

I really am THAT person, 10034
In NYC, windows don't tend to have screens. Or if there are screens, they have holes. I suppose I could get a professional in and have the windows fitted with screens, but that takes time and money. The point is flies get in. Usually the giant garbage fly kind. Those giant ones which actually make a buzzing sound when they fly around. And they live forever. I started looking for a fly swatter but instead found this magical item - an electric bug zapper that is shaped like a tennis racket. Really. It didn't cost that much and why the heck not? It would put the fly out of its misery in a short electric zap, right?
Well as it happens, a garbage fly got into the apartment and was buzzing around. I finally had my chance to use this sucker. So I turned it on and tried to remember how it worked. I swatted it around trying to get the bug to show some interest in it. Finally, the bug came near enough to it that the swatter zapped it. And it scared the crap out of me. The entire metal head lit up blue and a smoky smell came out of it. Freaked me out. But then I noticed that the damn bug was still flying around. but I figured it would die eventually. I mean it got electrocuted.

So instead of a quick death, it got a slow agonizing death. I finally found it on the floor. Poor thing. RIP 2012 - 2012.

IT LIVES, 10034
Have you ever watched Project Runway? Every season someone seems to make some dress that looks like toilet paper pieces - sometimes all over, sometimes just on the skirt, sometimes just out of the butt. Seriously - some designers think a burst of fabric on the rear lengthen the line of the figure. But most of the time it looks like a burst of fabric coming out of someone's butt.
Well I finally found a tissue dress that really lives up the the name tissue dress. It's not made of tissues - just materials in just as highly flammable material, silver lamé. Behold - the REAL TISSUE DRESS:

back in the day 10019
I was in my old neighborhood today which hasn't changed much. I used to live North of Hell's Kitchen, South of Lincoln Center (NoHeKitchSoLinCent). When I first moved into the nabe, the Coliseum was closed down and the area was a bit depressed. Here's the Coliseum in its Hey Day:

(Photo from Soviet Cultural exhibit, Coliseum, New York City, 1959)
I can't seem to find a photo of it being torn down. Now there's the Time Warner Center, Pinkberry, Fourbucks, and lots of fancy pantsy-ness.
Well anyways, I walked around the nabe and had a sandwich at my old corner deli:

don't ask. you don't wanna know what's in that.
And then I ran into an old neighbor, who was so nice. invited me to travel with him and his cousin to London. it was a good day :)

I'VE MOVED
Hi everyone - I've moved to a new site: girlladyfriend.com. I hope to see you there! I won't be posting to this blog anymore, but it will stay up as long as they'll let me.
NEW!
I've taken the leap and migrated to wordpress AND finally bought the url girlladyfriend.com :) It only took me about 15 years. So I hope you enjoy the new, not-so-improved blog.

Bill's Bar & Burger, 10014
I went to Bill's Bar & Burger in the Meatpacking District with my pal Frynn a couple of weekends ago. I was craving burgers and Frynn found this place. So food, we go!
I started off the meal with the Cowtipper: Maker’s Mark, Sweet Tea Vodka, White Peach, and Lemonade. Delishousness. I do recommend tearing up the mint and tossing it in the drink though. Garnish smarnish. If it's there, use it.
I ordered the Bill's Burger, which was The Classic with Cheese, LTP (Lettuce, tomato and pickle), and "Special Sauce." To be honest, there was a lot going on in that burger so I couldn't really tell what the special sauce was. As you can see, I prefer mustard with a side of burger.
We also got a mixed side of fries and onion rings - both of which I can heartedly recommend. The fries were more steak-like and the onion rings were beer battered and well-seasoned, which made me so very, very happy.
Frynn, who read the reviews, ordered the Burger cupcake for dessert. I of course obliged with a bite. I prefer salty and had to really restrain myself from ordering more onion rings.
That being said, the Burger cake is damn cute and very good. And it looks like a burger, even with a chocolate cake puck-shaped burger inside.
Bill's was great. Definitely needs to be on the "Return-To" list.
it's been a while
i don't know if people still read blogs. i sure haven't in a while. blogs take time to write. and read. instead we have twitter and facebook which requires us to read a sentence. if that. usually just a few words and a link. which we will eventually read.
so current status update: high on pain meds again. I may have a herniated disc in the neck. Or spinal fluid leaking because of a disc bulge. doesn't that sound tasty? so the most i really can do is sit, watch tv, nap, and surf the web. I have been cautioned by someone I work with who shall remain anonymous from posting too many strange updates on facebook. so instead I am going to blog. LOLOLOLOL. fight the power. more later!
