Texting Out Loud Is a Thing Now

I was at UCB Upright Citizens Brigade last night with Fren and Frike. There was this woman and her friend who were "unknowingly" cutting the line behind us. When they were told that they had to go stand at the back of the 2nd line (like Disney World), one of the women literally said, "W. T. F." Jen, Mike, the couple next to us and I just had to say, "L. O. L. O. L."

Nomi turned 3

Around this month, Nomi was born. I adopted her at about 1.5 years old and she was the shyest, most skittish cat. Here's her photo from the Humane Society of New York.

And she was tiny - only 7 lbs and skinny.  And scared.

As requested, I had her in the bathroom for a couple of days to acclimate to noises. She found me a curious thing.

Then she got used to my apartment but liked to hide in in tight spaces.

And then she got comfortable enough to sleep on the couch.

And then she got real comfortable.

And fat.

And loving...in her own way. She's affectionate on her terms and doesn't seem to know how to play by herself. I have to be the cat toy holder. But she's a sweet, natured cat who lets me torture her by cleaning her ears, clipping her nails and brushing every day with no problems. And she doesn't spray anything or poop outside her litter box.  She also lets me carry her like a baby for at least five or more minutes. It's really weird because I don't think that's typical cat behavior. But I'll take it. All of these things are thumbs up for me.

Look at that face. with half a mustache.

She really did get big.

And goofy.

I love that she folds her paws under her face. She actually sleeps with one paw over her eyes. It's ridiculously adorable.

I flown with her twice to Florida (with no problems - quiet and hasn't peed or pooped in her carrier. I've had the people sitting next to me who had no idea I had a cat in the space underneath the chair in front of me) where she hides under things for most of the visits, but that last time, she came out to get a sewing lesson from Mrs. Kim.

She did grow up...and out. (Note: She's only 12 lbs and her vet says she is fine, but it's a lot of love to carry.)

But she's moving on from teen to adult gracefully. Unless she is bored and then she cries at her loudest at 4 AM. I would say I think I would keep her, but honestly she is the master. I am just the help.

Happy birthday, Nomi! Lubs you :)
