September 26 was
Chuseok, which is the major harvest festival and a time to honor your ancestors It's an important holiday in Korea. It's like Thanksgiving, but instead of turkeys and
Festivus, you have what's called
dduk, visit your ancestors' grave, drink some soju and if you are unlucky, have Festivus.
It's important to eat dduk (or tteok) during this time period because it gives you good luck for the rest of the year. I haven't had any dduk yet.
I also missed having
miyeokguk (seaweed soup), which you have on your birthday and is also for good luck.
So, my luck is low right now.
I better get eatin'.
