wash, rinse, repeat

My friend Frannie forwarded me today's NY Times article about laundry. Why? Because I am obsessed with laundry. I looooooove laundry. I love separating. I love washing. I tolerate folding and hate putting away. But washing? LOVE IT. That being said, I don't think I would go through the motions of separating that much of my laundry - five categories? Seems a bit much. And double wash, triple rinse? That seems to only work if you own the washer. I would be tempted to try it though. Yes, I am that wacky about laundry.

ALERT! ALERT!

wild goose chase? really?

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): What exactly is a "wild goose chase," anyway?Does it refer to a frenetic and futile hunt for an elusive prey that's nevercaught? Or might it also mean the meandering pursuit of a tricky quarrythat after many convoluted twists and turns results in success andgenerates a lot of educational fun along the way? Either definition couldapply to your wild goose chase in the next three weeks, Leo. Which onewill ultimately win out will probably depend on two things: 1. how well youdetect the false leads you get; 2. how determined you are to be amusedrather than frustrated by all the twists and turns.

Celebrate! Holiday!

August 29 is Chop Suey Day. seriously. I think in honor of this totally American dish, we should honor all foods that seem from the country from which it is attributed, but in actually is just a colonized food stuff. E.g., chicken tikka masala, egg foo young, um, other stuff.

So celebrate!

if the dutch didn't decimate the native americans...

This is a picture of what my NYC block looked like in 1609. Cool huh? I got it from the Mannahatta Project. Check it out: www.themannahattaproject.org.

On my block in 1609, the mammal neighbors were meadow voles, white-footed mouse, deer mouse, beavers, southern flying squirrels, eastern gray squirrels, masked shrew, eastern cottontails, eastern chipmunks, raccoons, muskrats, among many other animals.

Today, we got yer ratz, ratz, masked shrews and ratz.
