gobble-gobble-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Happy post-Turkey day, everyone! I am in Florida and, as usual, my witchy ways have made the rains come. I guess that is good since FL is in desperate need of water. I should hire myself out as a rainmaker.

I cooked Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. I don't know how people did it without electricity, gas, etc. I stood in front of the stove for five hours!! All for turkey legs, corn pudding, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes with maple butter, homemade stuffing, gravy and dilled carrots. Can you imagine if you not only had to do that but keep the stove lit, the house clean, watch 20 children, wash laundry by hand, and keep a farm? I was exhausted from just cooking dinner - imagine what it was like pre-electric conveniences! However, I am thankful we live in today's world and that I don't have to go to the after-Thanksgiving sales.

While in FL I have my usual laundry list of items to do for my parents, which included:
- Turning some of the clocks back (for some reason, my parents chose to not change all of the clocks, even the ones that aren't digital. Baffling)
- Went to the grocery stores on the Wednesday BEFORE Thanksgiving (I am never doing that again)
- Went to Target and spent too much money (Is it possible to leave Target with nothing? I have only done that once and that was in Brooklyn. The lines were so long; I just couldn't deal. However, every other Target I go to where there are no lines, I can't leave without at least $100 worth of stuff)
- Went to Borders (calendars and books for work), Jo-Ann Fabrics (brought all my yarn for my crocheted afghan but forget the most important item - a crochet hook), Belk (bought soft pillows because the ones my parents have in the guest room are as hard as rocks and I pull my neck out each time i visit because of them), Marshalls (sandals - My friend Frandy was like, Sandals? Yes, I bought sandals in November. It's 70 degrees here! My feet gotta breathe!), Staples (items for the 'rents), Blockbuster (for some reason I needed to see Harry Potter again), gas station (my gods, what is up with fuel costs?!), and Fedex Kinkos (work)
- Clean out the frig (There are lots of Korean food which is fermented and smells like death. However, when you let that Korean food go beyond its due date, well then, you seriously have something that smells like the seventh level of hell)
- Attempt to clean out the garage
- Played Korean cards with my mom, who beat my ass
- Called AARP
- Called the State Medical Board of FL
- Called the termite service in Jacksonville
- Called places in Jacksonville
- Called AllState re golf cart insurance - yes, there is such a thing as golf cart insurance
- Cooked Thanksgiving dinner
- Found two giant boxes outside the front door - My parents' friends in Korea sent them a frozen cooked turkey and a pecan pie for Thanksgiving. Very nice of them, but now we have 6 turkey legs, fixings, a frozen 10 lb cooked turkey, and 3 pies
- Made mandoo (Korean wontons) from scratch

And it's only Friday.
