From Rob Brezsny's Free Will Astrology: LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): Biologists say there are 680 species of trees and shrubs in the U.S. and Canada. By comparison, Lambir Hills National Park on the island of Borneo is the home of 1,175 species on its 128 acres. I
suspect you will feel right at home in places like Lambir Hills in the coming week, Leo. Your own creative urges will be running hotter than usual, and are most likely to thrive in contexts that are themselves teeming with lush fertility and rich diversity. Please surround yourself with inspirational influences, thereby giving yourself the best possible chance to express yourself with vivid imagination.

my neighbor
i haven't met any yet in my building which isn't unusual at all in NYC but i met my first neighbor across the way - in another building...cooking breakfast...in tighty whities... It was fascinating because 1) he was only wearing the whities and 2) he was cooking at the stove with an open flame. it was like watching a really cheap side show.

Warning - coffee-withdrawn woman ahead
I have to transition from coffee back to tea. The Reflux (flux, flux, flux, flux, flux) is back and with a vengence. Like Reflux II - Take No Hostages starring Steven Segal. So sad because I looooooove coffee. I love it. I would marry it. I would.

What the what
When I was convalescing from my back/neck injury, I was on some serious pain meds. The meds made me very loopy and I began to compulsively shop. Now most of the stuff I bought I could use and did need. Maybe not at that current moment, but wasn't too big a surprise. However, I TOTALLY don't remember buying this. Diamonique, QVC LOLOLOL

Quandary
So dad is remarrying which is great and his fiancée is a really great person. The only stumbling block I've reached is what to call her. Now in Korean I'm not sure what the word for stepmom is and knowing how the Korean language is it's probably got some secondary derogatory meaning like horrible hag who hates her stepchildren. My dad said to call her mom but I'm afraid I had a visceral reaction to that one. Sorta came out as, "God no." In retrospect that wasn't very nice. O well. Quandary continues.
He he he he whisper heh hehe he
I was on the 7 am flight to MCO this am on delta. I usually take JetBlue but this time delta. Usually on the flight to Orlando you have many families with small kids who like to clear their lungs out during the flight. Oddly this time the wee ones were quiet. The college kids however were not. It was as if I was in the middle of a plane of spring breakers. Now the dudes boasting about chicks and how drunk they were when were ok. Their Vegas stories were lame. The ones who were really annoying were the two girls sitting next to me who were giggling oddly in continuous spurts throughout the damn flight. He he he he he he he. Whisper whisper and he whisper whisper he he he. Through the entire flight. He he he he he.
Reminded me of beavis and butthead but not remotely funny. He he he.

Why so expensive?
OK - it is more expensive to get the digital subscription of Redbook magazine on Zinio ($12 for 12 issues) than it is to get the hard copy subscription ($8 for 12 issues). I think this is the equivalent of dining out - it costs more for healthy meals than it is more fried, over processed food. Harrible

HOLY RHINO HORN, BATMAN!
"A collection of Chinese cups at the Tulsa stop Saturday of 'Antiques Roadshow' was the most valuable find in the appraisal show’s 16 years.
The five Chinese carved rhinoceros horn cups are believed to be from the late 17th century or early 18th century and are valued at $1 to $1.5 million."

fire! fire! heehehehhehehhehehhe
remember when you just took newspaper and made doughnuts to help start a fire? i think people are feeling crafty about making fire because there is an article in lifehacker about making fire starters with egg cartons, candle wax and drier lint.
it turns out that boy scouts have been doing this for a long time.
The ever practical Martha Stewart is in my camp, but she makes fancier newspaper firestarters. Whatever shape you use, I still believe in the roll-the-newspaper-and-tie-into-a-knot method. Why go to all the fancy trouble? unless it really is THAT environmentally friendly? I don't know.

I'm just a gurl who cain't say no
So, I went in to get bangs. Because my hair is really curly, if I want bangs, I have to get them straightened. However, instead of just getting my bangs, I got my hair dyed and got a keratin treatment. I spent about 5 times more than I wanted to AND i also came home with a new shampoo and conditioner. I am an easy mark!

stop it
Someone told me they had mosquito bites and of course showed me them and now I can't stop scratching. Why is that?! It's like contagious yawning, which is a real phenom.
However, since my friend told me about the bites, I really can't stop scratching. Well it turns out itching is contagious. Of course, more studies need to prove this, but I can tell you that anecdotally, it's true.

how come when I buy grapes, they are bitter and taste nasty, but when I eat grapes at someone's house, they are delicious?
